Hiya there! I’m so happy you found yourself here. I’m running for municipal council in Espoo with number 34 and the county council in Länsi-Uudenmaan hyvinvointialue (same area as Espoo) with number 2150. Once you vote, put the number 34 to the white ticket and the number 2150 to the lavender one!
You can vote between 2.-8.4.2025 in any of the voting spots around the city and on the actual voting day 13.4.2025 you have to use the spot assigned to you. If you need more information about voting, here are the government instructions in English. You can also find other language options on this page.
So – who am I? My name is Anu Kantola and I’m a parent, a teacher, a professional on workforce related topics, an ex startup founder and a project manager. On the side I’ve been doing human rights activism for about a decade. Currently I’m the president of the board for LGBTI Rights Finland, Seta. It’s the umbrella organisation for all of the rainbow organisations in Finland.
I’m doing my Master’s in Economics currently but I’m also a Bachelor of Social Services and a Bachelor of Arts and Culture.
During these politically difficult times I felt like human rights activism is not enough. I want to make everyday better for the people in my community. I want to bring equality and wellbeing in the center of decision making. That’s why I’m running for council.
My campaign themes in Espoo and Western Uusimaa:
✅ Equality is a starting point, not an extra effort.
I am a trained expert in equality and a human rights activist. For ten years, I have been advocating for various minority groups, even at the ministerial level, and I will continue to do so.
🌿 Local nature is Espoo’s greatest asset.
Well-maintained outdoor routes, promoting cycling for commuting, and prioritizing public transport ensure that Espoo doesn’t turn into just a parking lot.
📊 Economic policy decisions are always about values.
I know this firsthand as I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Economics. I want to make decisions that support the well-being of all people.
🏥 Everyone in Western Uusimaa must have equal access to timely social and healthcare services.
Location, language, or financial situation must not affect the quality of services. As a former professional in the criminal justice system, I know the consequences of neglecting prevention.
I hope my themes resonate! If you have any comments you can DM me on insta: @kantolananu. See you!
